Zemmour rugs are flat woven wool carpets from the Middle Atlas region of Morocco. Zemmour rugs or kilims are produced by one of the Berber tribes of Morocco. This particular berber rug is from the area of Khemisset, a town famous for it\'s rug weaving, one hour north east of Rabat, the capital of Morocco. The Zemmour rugs/kilims are produced using vibrant colors in red and saffron. The Zemmour rugs, similar to other Berber rugs of Morocco, use many symbols in their weaving patterns. One dominant symbol is the \"eye\" crossed to protect from the evil eye in the belief of this indigenous Moroccan tribe.
