These Moroccan cream-colored wool throws are also known as wedding blanket and wedding cape bed cover. They are made by the Atlas Berber women in the Northern part of Morocco. They come as vintage area rugs which have a lot more character than the new handira version. The Moroccan vintage handira rug tend to be on the small side (not quite the 5'x8' standard US size).
The Moroccan tribal handira rug has become a popular accent round the house. You will find the Moroccan Handira, or otherwise referred to as Moroccan wedding cape, used at the foot of the bed or over a daybed as a throw. You may also use them as floor coverings or as wall art. We have also sewn the handira for clients for use as Moroccan floor cushions, poufs and pillows.
